Worried about how kids from lower income families were going to cope with their studies during the circuit breaker, Valerie worked with Lakeside Family Services to initiate an online tutoring programme to help them in their studies.

Through the encouragement of her Connect Group and the help of her friends from Junior College who had also just completed their A ’levels, Valerie managed to reach her goal of getting at least 50 tutors to take part in this initiative and matched them to 50 students each.

In fact, the response she got was so good that she managed to get a huge number of volunteers in a short space of time.

Outside of academic lessons, there were also art classes organized for the kids to have fun together.

This programme was so successful that the classes continued even after the circuit breaker!
